Stellar Blade: Blood Rain developer Shift Up has sparked a backlash for releasing an entirely AI-generated music video starring protagonist Evie. https://t.co/pTeyHadNFs
@Wario64 That's a statement from someone barely aware of what video games are. This company is so out of touch. I hope their profits crater as a result of their anti-consumer greed.
@IGN Reversing their decision sucks but I'm surprised a second season was announced at all--not because it was bad, but because it seemed complete. And now that Marvel's closing ranks, this makes sense. It's a shame, but we shouldn't have been here in the first place.
@Variety This is quite the precedent, as we know corporations HATE paying licensing fees--even as they love charging them to consumers. All generative AI companies need to burn.
@GameSpot It doesn't understand shit because that statement did nothing to address players' ownership concerns. People still talk about this like it's just a format preference when it's a fight for our rights as the people who made PlayStation a successful brand.
This is just confirmation that Sony doesn't give a shit about its consumers. That statement sounded like it was written by someone vaguely aware of what video games are, and not that players built PlayStation into what it is. Fuck this company.
Sony vows to press on with discless plans, saying "digitalization is progressing" across all media despite heavy protest from players. https://t.co/sS4QottjKN
LOUDER. FANS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT. All the "this is for you guys" rhetoric has empowered people into thinking they can force creative decisions. If you try to please everyone, you please no one (*looks at Star Wars*). We became fans before we knew what we wanted. Trust that.
Tom Holland hated an early cut of #SpiderManBrandNewDay that was based on "all of the notes from random people [at test screenings]. It totally didn’t work."
“We’ve seen loads of different cuts of this movie, and one of the cuts, they took all of the notes from all of the random people [at test screenings] who saw the film. And then they changed the movie, and we watched it, and we hated it. It totally didn’t work. It was what the people were asking for, but it wasn’t quite what we wanted as the creatives. But they learned lessons from that experience, so a movie can change in a thousand different ways in the edit room.” (via Quotable)

@asha_shar How about focusing on great games that your players can own at a reasonable price, on infrastructure that's reliable and consumer friendly? How about you service the customers that built XBOX before you focus on bringing in more? I'm sick of "growth" while the roots wither.
