LIVE | Church Raises Concerns Over Alleged Encroachment on Property at Manet Spintex
A land ownership dispute has emerged between Prayer Palace, a church located at Manet on the Spintex Road in Accra, and a foreign investor alleged to have undertaken activities on land claimed by the church.
According to the church's leadership, the property was lawfully acquired from the recognized custodians of the land, who provided documentation confirming the sale and ownership rights. These documents were subsequently presented to the Head Pastor of Prayer Palace, Prophet Emmanuel Adjei.
Church officials allege that despite their claim to the land, a Chinese national has entered the property and commenced construction works. They further claim that the development is being carried out under the authorization of another individual who also asserts ownership of the land, reportedly with the backing of persons believed to be land guards.
The matter has since been reported to the Ghana Police Service, which referred the case to the Property Fraud Unit (PFU) for investigation and verification of the rightful ownership of the property. According to church representatives, all parties involved were directed to stay away from the disputed land for one week while investigations were ongoing.
However, the church alleges that construction activities continued on the property during the period of investigation, raising concerns among its leadership and congregation. Church officials have expressed dissatisfaction over what they describe as a lack of effective enforcement measures while the ownership dispute remains unresolved.
The development has sparked concern among members of Prayer Palace, with more than 2,500 congregants closely following the matter. Church leaders are calling on the relevant authorities to expedite investigations and ensure that due process is followed in determining the rightful ownership of the land.
