It’s kinda crazy to realize that Taylor Swift doesn’t actually have a musical identity and her future music is fully dependent on what / who is popular at the moment. She disguises plagerisim as inspiration and does everything in her power to emulate those she deems cool, and she wants to be cool SO BADD.
You can tell it’s genuinely bothersome to her that she’ll never hold the energy someone like Lana, Lorde, or Alex Turner hold, so she does everything in her power to try and align with that— whether that be trying to form a relationship with them or straight up plagiarizing their ideas.
I find her to be an extremely tacky and an unfortunate presence in pop culture. Even more unfortunate is that she won’t be going anywhere because she is a trend chameleon, similar to Madonna, but minus the creative risks.
I could go on about how purposefully blocking artists and releasing many versions of a project is inherently anti-art but her fans would accuse me of cope so instead I will bring up Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor’s decision to accept credit on a song she had no participation in.
Taylor didn’t have to accept credit for Deja Vu but she did, and Rodrigo was obviously threatened legally because NO artist would willingly do that. It’s tacky and it’s anti-art. Meanwhile Taylor keeps being “inspired” by Lana and has seen no reciprocations LOL.
Taylor’s legacy and record breaking stats will be forgotten in 100 years because she has never created anything herself, her music is a reflection of everyone else’s music around her.
I didn’t mean for this to be long… just a shower thought.
Packing thousands of straws together basically creates a low-tech pixel screen.
Each straw acts as an independent light pathway, perfectly mimicking how data channels work.
