Andrew Tate: "Reading books is for losers...Books are a total waste of time."
Kanye West: "I am not a fan of books...I am a proud non-reader of books."
Clavicular: "I don't really read books...you could just get the information through summaries and articles."
Don't be like these guys.
Pick up a book today.
“I put him to bed with paracetamol and Nurofen and I went in in the morning and he was dead - it was that quick.”

@Samstricko181 It is indeed a mess.
You were so clearly referring to the medicalisation of everything.
6 Kids deliberately taking it in turns to cough while the teacher is teaching is not because of an ‘unmet need’ or medical condition.
A detention is sufficient.
Some people have lost their minds over this. We are in a very worrying situation if we feel every misbehaviour needs a reasonable adjustment or support. Sometimes kids misbehave & simply need firm boundaries and to be told no. If this is controversial then education is a mess
I have never seen a child behave worse because rules were clear and consistently enforced. You can call that “high control” or “authoritarian” as often as you like. Clarity and consistency help pupils behave, and make learning possible for everyone.
One of the useful things about "belonging" is that it isn't measurable. There's no scale or metric. And, critically, a school could have bad *academic outcomes* but say things like "ah yes, but our students have such a strong sense of belonging"
It's the perfect edufashion
I am starting a series on teaching "hard-to-teach" topics in GCSE maths.
The first of these articles looks at vector proof, and how teachers of maths might approach teaching vector proof so that it makes sense for more pupils.

I would love to hear if this has worked for others, but if not what has.
Comment on this post to let me know.
Entirely right. Teachers are now reverting back to traditional paper homework with worked solutions. Even if pupils get help via AI platforms, at least they'll have to show it on paper, which takes time.
@edmunds_dr Oh, teachers know. Even before this, they could use photomath or whatever.
This is why my AP Chem class has pencil paper homework out of the textbook this year. Sure they could type the problem into AI - but have to physically write out the solution & all their steps.
Hearing more and more complaints from mentors about the unrealistic demands when working with trainees and ECTs.
Seems that some of it is coming from the ECF but a big chunk from the training provider too.
Absolutely critical to get this right, and not force experienced and knowledgeable mentors to jump through hoops. The overwhelming majority of their time should be on observing and feedback, not paperwork and multiple online platforms.
Edexcel's GCSE maths grade boundaries increased by 20 marks!
Either create better exam papers to maintain consistent grade boundaries, or keep the existing one.
Thousands of students have now been left without their expected grades after all their hard work.
