@KaylaStine2@janelance2nd I agree Kayla! There are both explicit curriculum choices we can offer as a teacher and hidden curriculum choices such as seating, groups and morning greetings that will foster a more inclusive classroom.
@Ms_KMiller1@janelance2nd Teachers will cover main ideas before details and less complex skills before more complex ones, prerequisites before requisites and unambiguous information before ambiguous. They will also teach commonly encountered content before lower frequency content.
@janelance2nd Teachers support students by offering guided questions or other cognitive & metacognitive strategies to organize thoughts, monitor thinking and solve problems with reading or across content areas. This will help students be more self directed and strategic learners. #EDP495eS19
How does academic choice help differentiate the classroom? What are some examples we can implement in an ECE classroom? Academic choice can change and be impacted by different factors- what are these and how often should we implement choice? #EDP495eS19
@janelance2nd Q2: We can make our students feel welcome by incorporating their culture into our classroom and showing that we can learn from them too. We also should create an environment where we show we learn from our mistakes and that we as teachers don't know everything either. #EDP495eS19
@janelance2nd Differentiation is critical to a successful classroom as not all students learn the same. They each come with prior knowledge and experiences that we should embrace and apply in our instruction. With differentiation our students will be able to thrive and reach greater heights.
