As on date, too much uncertainty. No one has any clue as to what is going to happen next. Too many views and analysis. But future remains completely uncertain. Once something is started, even those who started it lose control over further happenings.

Global markets are correcting strongly. Crude is going up. Just saw silver crashing 10%. Initially the view was it's going to be a short term issue. Now the view is problem may not end anytime soon. Everyone is shooting in the dark. No one knows.

All I can tell you is control your impulse to take any action on your portfolio and investments. Market falls can be extremely scary. But the loss occurs only if you sell. Tolerate the pain and stay the course.

I've spoken many times last year about need to have higher emergency corpus. Hope you are on it. Don't use your emergency corpus for investing in markets now. Emergency corpus is not only financial but also a huge psychological strength.

Doing nothing is the best course for now.

STAR HEALTH INSURANCE trying to Con Army Veteran Nation must know

My wife had undergone a cataract operation in February this year. The total cost of the operation was 1,55,000 rupees. Out of this approximately 22000 was paid by ECHS. I raised a claim with the health insurance company, namely, Star Health Insurance, for the remaining amount of approximately 1,33,000 rupees. However, the company only released rupees 30,000 stating that the amount was limited to the sub limit in my previous insurance policy.

Prior to this operation, I had ported the insurance from ICICI Lombard, where my wife had a cover of rupees 3 lakhs and and a sub-limit of rupees 30,000 for cataract operations. The new insurance policy was for a coverage of rupees 10 lakhs and there was no mention of any sub limit in the policy document. I pointed out this fact to the company and requested them to reimburse the remaining amount beyond the 30,000. The company denied me the same and said that I was entitled to only rupees 30000 as per the sub limit of my previous contract with ICICI Lombard.

I wrote several times to the company requesting them to quote the specific terms of the current policy that limited my reimbursement to rupees 30,000 and also to quote how I was governed by the rules of the previous policy, and that too, with a completely different company. The company refused to see reason and finally asked me to refer the matter to the insurance ombudsman.

When I made a representation to the ombudsman, the company agreed to pay the remaining amount of 1,02,000 rupees and ask to be absolved of the claim. I refused to concede to the company's request for absolution and requested for an online meeting with the ombudsman.

Today, I had an online meeting with the insurance ombudsman and following the meeting, the ombudsman was pleased to order the company to pay me the remaining amount with interest thereon.

This company has a history of disallowing claims on frivolous and untenable grounds and making its clients run all over the place to have their claims settled. However, I think, with my action, the favourable decision will prove to be a precedent for other people who may be similarly affected.

1800's और 1900's की सदी में नीदरलैंड की सड़कों पर आवारा कुत्ते आतंक बन चुके थे.

उस वक़्त के डच अखबारों में खबर आम थी, बच्चों और बूढ़ों को कुत्ते ने काट लिया. उनकी रेबीज से मौत हो गयी.

बच्चों और बुजुर्गों की सुरक्षा के लिए नीदरलैंड सरकार ने 1962 में आवारा कुत्तों को शेल्टर में होम में बंद कर दिया.

1980 में ठीक इसी प्रकार की समस्या से जापान जूझ रहा था. जापानी सरकार ने भी बच्चों और बुजुर्गों की सुरक्षा के लिए सड़कों पर से आवारा कुत्तों को हटा दिया.

यूरोप, अमेरिका, चीन, दक्षिण कोरिया, सिंगापुर और ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने भी जापान और नीदरलैंड का अनुसरण किया.

भारत में आवारा कुत्ते बच्चों पर हमला कर मार रहे हैं. कुत्तों के काटने से लोग रेबीज से मर रहे हैं. सुप्रीम कोर्ट का फैसला स्वागत योग्य है.
