@IncomeTaxIndia flashes daily ITR filing numbers on its website, but under RTI it says, “data not available.”

When it’s for publicity, data exists.
When it’s for accountability, it vanishes!

This isn’t transparency...it’s a cover-up.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to extend the specified date for filing various audit reports for the Previous Year 2024–25 (Assessment Year 2025–26), from 30th September 2025 to 31st October 2025, for assessees referred to in clause (a) of Explanation 2 to sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Act.

The Hon'ble High Courts of Rajasthan and Karnataka have ordered the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to extend the due date for filing Tax Audit Reports (TAR) for the Assessment Year 2025-26 to October 31, 2025. This comes as a direct response to the continuous technical issues and instability of the Income Tax e-filing portal. This judicial intervention underscores the reality faced by taxpayers and CAs. We hope CBDT respects these orders and issues the necessary notification without delay. “When the tax filing deadline was shifted from 31 July to 15 September, all professionals who generally work for two months for the audit are now made to wrap up everything in 15 days. Everybody was expecting an extension, but it has not come as yet. Given the glitches on the I-T portal and late release of tax forms, the return filing work was delayed beyond what was expected,” says CA Chirag Chauhan, founder of CA Chauhan & Company
