Chemoselective catalytic C=O reduction of conjugated enones has been challenging and largely the domain of metal-based catalysts. We show that N-Heterocyclic Nitrenium can serve as an efficient organocatalyst for this transformation. The mechanism is quite complex :)
We developed a novel reaction that enables a direct synthesis of amines from olefins via C=C bond cleavage. This process which we termed Triazenolysis represents an aza-version of ozonolysis reaction.
