Attended the inaugural ceremony of ‘Hutatma Smruti Smarak’ at Patradevi in Goad. Paid tributes to the freedom fighters who stood against Portuguese rule and made the supreme sacrifice in the struggle for Goa’s liberation.

Patradevi carries the memory of one of the most courageous and tragic chapters of Goa’s liberation movement. In 1955, Portuguese forces opened fire on unarmed Satyagrahis and freedom fighters at Patradevi, where several brave patriots laid down their lives.

The courage and sacrifices of the Satyagrahis strengthened the national resolve that ultimately culminated in Goa’s liberation in 1961.

This memorial will preserve the legacy of the freedom fighters and keep alive the memory of their courage and indomitable spirit. It will inspire future generations to cherish our freedom and uphold India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity.

This Transfer of Technology (ToT) marks an important milestone in promoting greater participation of the Indian industries in the defence ecosystem by enabling them to undertake indigenous production, as per applicable qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements.
