I’ve seen this sentiment shared a few times, but my theory is people of the calibre this tweet is talking about can easily get into top US schools, and they *will* start doing that very quickly if a Waterloo and CMU education costs the same.

Top engineering schools in Canada (like Waterloo) are heavily subsidized by the government.

A simple fix: charge students the full rate if they leave for the US right after graduation.

Let’s do the math:
- Domestic student: $18K/yr
- International: $74K/yr
- Taxpayer subsidy: $56K/yr

$56K x 4 years = $224K

That’s the amount that should be billed to a student who leaves. Right now, the Canadian taxpayer is left holding the bag.

On iOS when trying to log into to an app using a Google account, why do some apps require typing in my Google email and password as opposed to letting me select the already logged in account on device? This feels insanely insecure?
