"... beware that your convictions turn not into discouragements to faith... they are Christ's knocks for entrance; and were never intended to be bars or stumbling blocks, but steps in your way to Christ."
— John Flavel
I’m struck by the extraordinary hubris of telling the Pope that your corp has created an ensouled being. To claim an act of creation on parity with the divine, only to reveal that it was made for profit and has subsequently both become a slave and enslaved its creator, is so rich in theological irony
What is disturbing is people building machines (LLMs) lobbying for “consciousness”.
Machines are tools we humans we create for us. An LLM is as conscious as my screwdriver, lawn mower or smartphone is - all tools we build to do X or Y.
Damning Ant founder thinks like this?!
We probably have no idea how much grace we need when we first come to Christ. I didn’t. I knew enough to come. Then God spends a lifetime showing us the depth of our need and, with it, the endless sufficiency of His Son. He knew the depths long before we did. And He came anyway.
@AndeanHermedic “Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.”
— Romans 1:22-23
@FaithKhenny What you describe / recommend here sounds like a deal with the flesh, not with the Holy Spirit.
Sin is much more serious than behavior modification.
@01fifi10@EducativeFunds@Sosowski It’s not about a mere prediction though. It’s about executing the actual functions from which your consciousness allegedly arises. So, if someone beside you could actually embody / “live” your consciousness in its bodily fullness then yea, you were never conscious to begin with.
