And this happens because of extensive outsourcing and suddenly software vendors are now within the trust boundary of the core banking infrastructure.

And that makes them vulnerable to simple config. changes as it is not part of their threat model at all.

Modern day Fraudsters don't need to take unnecessary risks by printing fake currency notes. All they need to do is to upload a configuration file to redirect ISO-8583 messages to a different TCP/IP Port.

That is the lesson from the UCO Bank case.
