Food for thought:
@Polymarket's upcoming L2 could end up being way bigger than people expect and evolve into a massive oracle network.
Right now event-based oracles are mostly used to resolve final outcomes, but I’d argue the real value is in micro-resolutions for live sports data: goals, breaking points, fouls, etc.
Think about how valuable it is to get that information the fastest. Flashscore and similar platforms already rely on networks of people watching matches live, but most are just paid a flat fee and aren’t really incentivized to push data as fast as possible.
By building an oracle network, people would be economically incentivized to attend matches, provide truth on-chain, and get rewarded for the information.
Sportsbooks and market makers everywhere would end up using Polymarket as a source of truth. And manipulation gets harder, since faulty information would actually cost collateral.
@devjoshstevens@mustafap0ly pls make it happen
Another low-hanging fruit for @Polymarket:
Add more commodities to the platform (with closing periods for the US app) so small businesses reliant on agricultural prices (e.g. coffee shops, farms) can hedge worldwide.
Imagine how much PR this would get + an entire new userbase.
First HIP-4 market resolved as “No” after BTC on Hyperliquid wicked $20 lower than Chainlink’s oracle price right at the last minute.
If only someone had warned them this would happen. Oh wait..
Polymarket.
