@lutzfernandez I used to say I don't like the union. But I realize the union is doing what they are supposed to do for their union members. I wish the students had to pay union dues so they could have a union that worked as hard for them.
Join us Thursday, January 9, 2020 and gain a working knowledge of special education laws, including parents role in the development of an appropriate education program (IEP) and how to be an effective partner with the school team in the process.
The Chicago Board of Education will convene its December meeting @CurieHS tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. Please join us if you're available. https://t.co/hvFfWrGbUo
@chalkbeatCHI@Yanazure I spoke to a parent recently who said she was going to be a part of LSC election in April. She was very happy because she said her principal wants her to be the Chair. Don't know why she couldn't see it was because the principal needed someone he could control
@chalkbeatCHI@Yanazure I periodically go to my neighborhood school's monthly LSC meetings and I always leave feeling like I wasted my time. The budget and CWIP are usually nit mentioned and most members don't know what shoukd happen at an LSC meeting.
This week's Board of Education meeting will be held at Curie High School and, for the first time since I've been covering CPS, will take place in the evening in a neighborhood and not downtown. Here's the agenda: https://t.co/kJZUqm2GW3
@CPSNetwork11@Parker_Panthers I love this! When you celebrate students it makes them want to bd there everyday. I really like how Ms. Brown interacts with students, parents and community.
Today 150 teachers, principals, board members, community leaders and students convened to review the draft equity framework. We appreciate your feedback and advocacy. I can't think of a better set of accountability partners. ๐ฅฐ
Some of us have made plans for the day before Thanksgiving earlier after checking the CPS calendar. This will not be a day of instruction and what is to stop the teachers from taking sick or personal days. January 2nd makes no sense either.
As part of the agreement to end the CTU strike, CPS committed to making up 5 of the 11 instructional days that were missed during the strike. The make-up days must be scheduled on days on which teachers would not otherwise be paid, which severely limited the districtโs options.
