I just graduated a few weeks ago. I was class rep all through my stay in UI Law so I knew nearly all my classmates on a personal note.

The ones who worked every last day just to feed and afford the basics.

The ones we had to crowdfund for.

The ones who were in and out of hospital and always called to take excuse because while we’re writing yet another test, they can’t make it because they are on a hospital bed for the umpteenth time that semester.

The ones who got overwhelmed and depressed.

The ones who lost family and/or friends and just couldn’t find their way back.

The family men and women who just had other responsibilities and cant give it as much time as the others.

And it goes on and on…

The most important thing I learnt from being class rep is not leadership or service. It is to give people grace when it comes to these things.

There are still those who do not care and just want to graduate with whatever but mehn, more than half the time, life happened and it takes different forms.

Leave people alone. Let them celebrate their 2:2 if they want. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT TOOK TO GET THERE!

In Auchi, Edo State,

Two brothers.
Both doctors.
Were recently ambushed and kidnapped at the gate of their home..

Dr. Abu Ibrahim Babatunde — a medical doctor on housemanship.
And his younger brother, Tahir Abu Emhoye — a fresh medical graduate of Ambrose Alli University. Who is yet to begin practicing but only moved in with his elder brother.

That evening, around 7:30pm, it is reported that Emhoye had gone to pick his elder brother from work, and as they arrived home along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi.

Emhoye stepped out of the car to open the gate.
That was when gunmen rounded them and kidnapped both of them into the bush.

Then the demands came.
First: N200 million ransom.
Later “reduced” to N100 million.

But before anything meaningful could be raised…
The unthinkable happened.
Emhoye was ki||ed.
His body dumped by a riverside.
Some reports say he was ki||ed while trying to escape.
Others say he was simply ki||ed as a strong message to the family that they meant business.

Either way…
A young doctor is gone.
A joint search team, police, army, vigilantes, hunters later found the body at the river and his family confirmed he is the one.

The elder brother, Dr. Babatunde, is still with the kidnappers while the family struggles to raise the ramson.

This is one of the saddest stories I have read recently.
I can imagine the pains of the family losing one child while running around to raise money to save the other from the hands of kidnappers.

May God help this Country.
