Hi everyone, we have a new episode coming this week (some are saying our best yet.........) but life got a little bit in the way of getting it out on time, so it might be a day late!
I hope you'll accept this video evidence of me working hard on it 🙏 — Ida
Not really sure how to fully explain it because it's rarely something I actually visualize so much as I just feel it out. Maybe everyone does it that way and I'm just overexplaining? Hard to say.
5+2=7, put a 0 on it. Set aside 70.
6+9. I break off a 1 from the 6 to make it 10, then add the remaining 5, for 15.
70+15=85 is just automatic I think.
When I say "break off a 1" I mean it fairly literally. I tend to think of single-digit numbers a bit like shapes. So it might be a little more accurate to say that I "bend" a bit of the 6 shape so it can attach to the "notch" that 9 has in my head, which is how it all becomes 15.
@cali_keftiu Ohh I hadn't had the energy to read through Gradient Descent yet but hearing it put that way makes me less wary I'd be wasting spoons. It's got SUCH cool vibes irrespective of the AI themes.
Nirvana On Fire also sounds like the *exact* vibe I was looking for!!
I always find it a bit dissonant when contemporary ttrpgs that have a strong anti-establishment tone (for example, Mothership) have unquestionably sapient AI in them. I fully get that they're doing a trope, but in this moment in history it feels like fighting for both sides.
Ok final thing, I realize now in the first tweet I said 'unquestionably sapient' when it usually is written to be pretty open ended from what I've seen. But I'm 5 tweets deep now and I can't just go back and edit it. God I hate this site lmao
That's really all it's about for me. I don't care if others LOVE it when a robot is a person, I just find it... whatever the opposite of inspiring is, and the way stuff is going with the whole 'AI' grift these days I'm really hungry for stories that sets people apart from bots.
