He opened in the shot put circle and did it again, breaking his own record with a throw of 49 feet 5 1/2 inches, placing 3rd. In discus, Zander unleashed a throw that felt different the second it left his hand. It cut through the air with authority and kept carrying… and carrying… until it landed at 171 feet, the top mark in the state, just 3.5 feet away from the state record, placing 1st.
