Most people chase short-term gains even when the expected long-term losses outweigh the immediate gains. Since they sacrifice long-term stability for quick wins, their approach resembles margin futures trading—where the risk of losing everything is ever-present. As a result, even when they succeed, their success is fleeting. They shine briefly and then fade away.

"Pursuing long-term gains" implies "Enduring short-term losses for the sake of long-term gains."

Those who follow this path tend to succeed gradually, steadily leveling up thanks to their patience and perseverance. By realizing short-term losses in advance, they reduce the risk of catastrophic losses in the future. It's painful, but the success lasts.

I want to pursue long-term gains because it feels like the path of the few, especially in crypto.
