Congratulations to @helium for being mentioned in the latest A16Z Crypto Landscape report.

Helium can be considered as one of the flagship protocols of DePin given its real world utility and impact. It is incredible to note that regardless of the market cap disparity between Helium and Sentinel, $HNT and $P2P move together with a near identical directional volatility and % change.

Unfortunately many utility tokens have experienced very poor price action over the past years regardless of the increase in their fundamental utility and impact, and most of these charts are extremely similar in the same way that HNT's and P2P's charts are.

It is clear that the market is waiting for an increase in monetary supply and a decrease in interest rates, and most utility tokens continue to display extremely suppressed price action.

That being said, no team can ever blame market correlations for the situation of their token and must always put every effort possible to become revenue positive and breakout of market correlations to become apart of the 'outlier' group of tokens which include tokens such as HYPE. dVPN apps built on Sentinel are now earning an aggregate revenue of over $300k+ per year and announcements will be made soon on the centralized VPN that has successfully transitioned and has become an operational decentralized VPN on Sentinel's network.

The correlation exists, however the fact is that its always possible to breakout of it. Its existence cannot be used an excuse, but instead a clear acceptance of reality and a challenge that must be overcome.

What is $ZEC
🔸@Zcash $ZEC is a payments coin launched in 2016 that lets you choose private (shielded) or public (transparent) transactions. Why it matters

Pros: CEX-less, privacy-forward, familiar Solana UX.

Caveats:
Third-party service (new), smart-contract/bridge risk, etc. Start tiny, verify the receiving Unified Address. If tool is under maintenance check @encifherio for status for updates.
Some bridges/swaps only accept transparent deposits today. If your wallet shows shielded-only UA, either pick a wallet that can display a t-address for the first hop, or use a route that supports UAs, then shield after receipt.

Q&A

Q: “zk-SNARKs” sounds scary - what do I actually need to know?
A: It’s just a way to prove your payment is valid without revealing who/what/how much. You don’t have to touch the math - your wallet handles it. 

Q: Can I send ZEC from a shielded wallet to an exchange?
A: Many exchanges still prefer/require transparent deposits. Follow the exchange’s deposit instructions exactly (some support improved formats now). 

Q: Is ZEC on Hyperliquid?
A: You might see perps for trading exposure at some venues, but those are derivatives, not spot ZEC. To own ZEC, use the routes above.

Q: Zcash vs. Monero?
A: Both aim for private payments. ZEC uses zk-proofs (shielded mode) with strong cryptographic guarantees when used correctly, but privacy is optional and benefits from large shielded usage. XMR is private by default via ring signatures/RingCT, giving a built-in anonymity set. Which is “stronger” depends on usage patterns and threat model, not just the math

ZEC’s optional privacy can scale well with adoption and wallet integrations; XMR’s default privacy offers consistent cover. Both have different trade-offs.

Zcash is a PoW, Bitcoin-style chain (no EVM, no staking) with optional private payments via zk-SNARKs and a single Unified Address format.

🔸Chain type:
Zcash is a Bitcoin-style (UTXO) blockchain with privacy added. The reference node (zcashd) is a fork of Bitcoin Core written in C++; there’s also a Rust full node (Zebra). Not an app chain, not account-based. 

🔸“smart contracts: none”
No native EVM-style contracts, but upcoming Zcash Shielded Assets (ZSAs) will enable private token issuance on-chain.

🔸Consensus today:
Proof-of-Work (PoW) using Equihash; blocks target ~75 seconds (since the Blossom upgrade). Miners secure the network; there are no validators. 

🔸“Can I stake ZEC?”
Not natively. Because Zcash is PoW, there’s no on-chain staking. Any “staking” offers you see are really lending/yield programs on exchanges or other chains - carry different risks. (ECC has discussed a possible future PoS path via a “Trailing Finality Layer,” but that’s exploratory - not live.) 

🔸Privacy tech (what you actually need to know):
Zcash uses zk-SNARKs so you can make a valid payment without revealing sender, receiver, or amount. Since NU5, Zcash uses Halo proofs (no trusted setup) and supports Unified Addresses - one address that works for both private (shielded) and public (transparent) transactions.
