Let’s talk for a moment about beg buttons…
First: beg buttons are NOT there to serve pedestrians. They exist to serve people in cars. They exist so that car traffic signals can minimize the car travel “delays” associated with people who need to cross a street on foot. (/1)
I asked my 4yo last night what he was doing. His response: "Nothing. Just watching the game, having a Bud." – It's entirely my fault the kids now get on "wasaaabi" kicks.
“I feel like compassion is very out right now. Curiosity is out. What’s in is condemnation and punishment. Now is not the moment for nuance; people do not want it.” https://t.co/4ICm8BufiW
@mstine @calehoopes Yeah, I was going to say that's entirely dependent on where you live. Living in Japan or Korea or a large coastal city in North America (esp. Pacific coast) would be a prerequisite.
If you are in Japan (specifically Hiroshima) before 24 September, there's a Ghibli special exhibit at the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art. I didn't see any signs in English.
Yesterday a local girl, probably same age as my 4yo, tried to hand the live cicada she was holding to him, but he was scared and backed off. She truly couldn't understand why, and her father had to explain that my 4yo was probably afraid.
