It quite literally only matters what each sold in a year because no media company on earth compares just lifetime sales of a product to determine its return metrics for a sequel. They compare initial sales, monthly more often than not, to determine said metrics because initial sales are the most likely to buy a sequel by a significant majority. You not knowing simple business practice related to revenue and sale projections doesnt make something unimportant. It just shows how uninformed you are.

@alnn893 @3SkullJoe I didnt word it very well to explain what I mean. There being logical (in universe obv) explanations of how Gear 2 and 3 work, being pumping his blood and blowing air into his bones or muscles makes it a specific use case and not just a generic transformation related to a zoan.

He taught himself Soru after seeing it in Enies Lobby used by CP9. We dont know when he started teaching himself Gear 2, but Soru being impossible for Luffy without Gear 2 (at the time at least) means he most likely taught himself them both at the same time.

So Aokiji showed him he needed to power up and CP9 is what showed him the concepts he needed to get to where he needed.
