Pumped to announce that I'll be joining the team at Laundry Spot as COO to help launch and manage the best laundromat franchise in the land.
After selling my business Summer 2025, my #1 requirement of "the next thing" was to surround myself with elite people.
@TylerPurcell24 and @DanReese21 without a doubt check that box as well as the other LS partners.
I recently visited their flagship store in Hamilton, OH (pictured below) and was blown away at the operation.
- Tech-packed machines
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installed like a form of art
- And don't even get me started on the fresh smell of Ozone when you walk in
I'll be overseeing ops, store build-outs, and ongoing support for Franchisees.
I'm excited to apply my knowledge of construction coming out of the gate and dial in ops the best way I know how.
With good comms, standards, and systems.
I'll be sharing our journey as we get the first group of Franchisees signed on and stores built out.
@SahilBloom The perspective shift of how you view your wife after having kids almost catches you off guard. At least it did for me.
It’s a beautiful thing.
I'll tell ya what, fast communication and decision making is a total cheat code in business.
We've welcomed new operators in 3 different markets to the Laundry Spot family and have chosen Slack as the primary communication platform.
All groups are super responsive and there is plenty of chatter each day, which makes it a ton of fun.
It also allows us to go from welcome call, systems onboarding, CRE broker interviews, and head first into site selection in ~5-7 days.
Not sure what other brands are doing but I couldn't imagine doing things any other way.
The first Laundry Spot location opened in 2006.
During the 2008 Great Recession business went up.
During the economic expansion of 2010+ business also went up.
When you serve a genuine necessity, the economy becomes a less important variable.
@DanReese21 He already gave me some good chipping advice the first round we played this year.
I got fit for a whole bag for the first time this week so once those are in I’m hoping my game improves with his instruction as well
Tony and I linked up to bring 10 Laundry Spots to the Cleveland market.
You better believe our strategy meetings take place on the golf course.
I’m a ~15 handicap and Tony is a +2 qualifying for Am tournaments.
If I don’t knock 10 strokes off my game as we build out stores, I would have failed.
I made a triple bogey on the 12th hole of a state am qualifier yesterday.
The old me shoots 79 from here and sulks in the car. Instead I played the last 6 holes in -4.
Here's what changed. 🧵
@TylerPurcell24 I agree. Also, if you can’t communicate when things are new and exciting when I’m a new lead for you then I don’t trust you’ll communicate when things are less new and exciting.
Hence the portal into their true behavior
Most laundromats in the US are under 3,000 sq ft.
So why are we building 5-10k square foot laundromats?
I usually point to the evolution you’re seeing in gas stations.
Used to be viewed as dirty/nasty.
Wanted to avoid having to go in.
Now they’re big, beautiful and inviting.
When people feel comfortable in a retail setting, they tend to hang out longer and spend more money.
It translates across industries.
