DSC-MD1 (MD Cyber-shot) is fully supported by the Sony “Digital Still Canera Utility 1.5a”!
Official software/cable kit (DSKIT-PC4) is impossible to find - use: https://t.co/b0XEsaTMiX
TRS serial cable from MSAC-SR1.
Make sure to DISABLE the DSC-F1 compatibility.

Because I am new to this, and the info is lacking, this is my set up:
1) Connect the external box to the modem port
2) Disable AppleTalk or set it to not use the modem port.
3) Install OMS and configure.
4) Setup QuickTime Control Panel Music settings.
Hope this helps someone!
So yep, looks like #Marathon does support external #MIDI devices just fine!
(I've been wondering this for decades and just never got around to trying, but good riddance software Quicktime Musical Instruments!)
Thank you @vcfederation, and everyone who came and said hi at VCF East this weekend!
I had a great time with my first time officially exhibiting, meeting new people, and sharing a small fraction of my obsessions.
If you have any follow-up questions, drop me a line!
Thanks!
@theory_retro I'm not seeing this on your github - did you ever finish this up? Still holding out hope for a proper internal modification to the PPC! Thanks!
Recreated the proprietary PDK-1 printer cable for the Sony PDF-5 #MiniDisc DATA EATA, and successfully reprinted a scanned page thanks to #RetroPrinter
@geerlingguy you mentioned having issues with getting a viable solid state option working for the PowerBook 3400- I’ve had good luck with the Ableconn IIDE-MSAT, grabbed some photos of my current setup from one of my machines (Partitioned down to 4GB for compatibility)
@VEsoterica Possibly interested, depending which Prototype chassis and ROM board this is- it looks like a late model prototype, GM or monitoring rom, based on the badged case.
I tried sending a message, but Twitter wants me to pay ... great. Feel free to message if you'd like. Thanks!
The system is a reskinned CLD-V2800, but with track controls and a display in favor of a Macintosh serial port for use as an external "LD Drive" for Pioneer's MPC series of Macintosh clones from the 90's.
There was concern posted over the airflow issue using the CLD-V2800 (or CLD-PC10) in an enclosed space with low airflow, so I setup an internal temperature probe.
After my rudimentary testing, I'm personally happy enough with these findings, and maybe others might be less worried about airflow in a sealed (there's literally no vents on this model anyway) metal case.

I don't have granular data past the 2 hour mark (I went to sleep), but as you can see, the temperature stabilizes after about 3 hours to around 85-86°F (~30°C). Interstingly, when the disc loops at 1 hour, there's a drop in temperature by about a degree or so. (spin up cooling?)
