Staggering growth in India’s Defence Production
A giant leap has taken place in the indigenous defence production in the FY 2025-26 by staggering increase in the defence production from ₹ 1.54 lakh crore to ₹ 1.78 lakh crore, registering a net increase of 15.6% over the previous fiscal year.
With the record increase in the indigenous production a huge momentum has been achieved in India’s defence production and marching towards #AatmanirbharBharat.
Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has lauded the efforts of Department of Defence Production and all stakeholders involved in the defence production of the country. Raksha Mantri has called for continued acceleration in the defence production sector with increased private sector participation and growing export capabilities.

The 5th India-Russia Army Land System Sub-Group (ALSSG) meeting under the aegis of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military & Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) was held in New Delhi from 04–07 Aug 2026.
The meeting aims to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral defence partnership between the two nations. Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, DCOAS (CD&S), along with Dr Garima Bhagat Joint Secretary (Land Systems), Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence led the Indian delegation. Maj Gen Tufekchi Aleksandr, Deputy Head of the Main Armoured Directorate, Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, headed the Russian delegation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing mutual Defence Industrial and Technological Cooperation.

In the National Seminar on ‘Military Explosives and Propellants: Safety and Compliance’ held today, on 31st July 2026 at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam DRDO Golden Jubilee Auditorium, Pune, organised by #DGQA under the aegis of DDP, an engaging session on Policy for Explosives Safety was conducted with Dr. Garima Bhagat, JS (LS) and Shri Prakash Rajpurohit, JS (DIP) as the prime speakers in the session.
Both the speakers gave a thrust on expanding indigenous defence explosive manufacturing capability while preserving the highest standards of safety norms. A threadbare discussion was held during the session with all the stakeholders engaged in the defence explosive sector.

A National Seminar on ‘Military Explosives and Propellants: Safety and Compliance’ was held today, 31st July 2026 at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam DRDO Golden Jubilee Auditorium, Pune, organised by #DGQA under the aegis of DDP. The seminar brought together Government, industry, #DRDO and academia to strengthen safety, regulatory compliance, #innovation and self-reliance in defence explosives and propellants. More than 400 participants from private industry, DPSUs, DRDO, PESO, QA agencies and the Armed Forces attended the seminar.
Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), delivered the keynote address and emphasised the paramount importance of safety in the field of explosives and optimisation of storage area. Secretary (DP) also urged CFEES, PESO and DGQA to work in close coordination to facilitate faster industrial licensing in the defence manufacturing sector.
Among others Dr Garima Bhagat, JS (LS), Shri Prakash Rajpurohit, JS (DIP) and Shri N Manoharan, DG, DGQA also spoke on policy on explosive safety for building a strong safety culture across defense manufacturing.

A team of officers from Department of Defence Production (#DDP) led by Joint Secretary (LS) Dr. Garima Bhagat, today visited BEML's Mysore Complex, its manufacturing capabilities, production infrastructure and indigenous product portfolio. Main focus of the visit was to review the progress and performance of Engine Division, High Mobility Vehicle and Assembly lines.
The team was apprised of the functionalities of BH60M Dumper, BH35-2 Electric Dumper, in addition to various initiatives taken by #BEML towards sustainable mining through electric mobility.

Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Sanjeev Kumar, along with Joint Secretary (Land Systems) Dr. Garima Bhagat, visited the Rail Complex of #BEML in Bengaluru today to review the Company's advanced manufacturing capabilities and the progress of key strategic projects.
The senior officials from DDP reviewed BEML's state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, including the #VandeBharat Sleeper, Metro rolling stock and high-speed trainset production lines. At the ADITYA Plant, they assessed the progress of India's first high-speed trainset manufacturing programme, where key milestones and technological capabilities were presented by BEML.
