Philadelphia has the second-highest poverty rate of the top ten largest U.S. cities. Failing to adequately fund the Defender Association ensures that this will only get worse. [8/10]
We, the members of UAW Local 5502, represent the public defenders, immigration attorneys, and child advocates at the Defender Association of Philadelphia and write to express our outrage at the City of Philadelphia's preliminary adoption of its 2027 budget. [1/10]
Enjoying my @UAW negotiated day off. Voting day should be a NATIONAL HOLIDAY!
I've reminded all of my friends and family to vote. Going to pick up my kids from daycare, take em to the voting poll and instill the importance of civic duty into their minds.
VOTE!!
BREAKING: New York has passed #Prop1!
New Yorkers used their vote to permanently protect abortion statewide, and showed up for LGBTQ, immigrant, and disabled New Yorkers by approving the most progressive and comprehensive state Equal Rights Amendment in the country.
Vote like your paid leave depends on it.
Vote like your workplace rights depend on it.
Vote like your overtime pay depends on it.
Vote like your union depends on it.
Because they do.
Two of my comrades voted for the first time after being released from prison. Both were serving wrongful life without parole sentences. Zaki served over 40 years and CL served 27. CL works at Abolitionist Law Center as our Family Outreach Coordinator. Self determination.
It’s embarrassing that New York Times management broke federal labor law and pushed for a strike on Election Day.
They were warned 2 months ago this would happen and instead decided to hurt NYT’s coverage. I will always stand with @NYTGuildTech
join your local mutual aid groups. if you don’t have time, donate to them. if you don’t have cash to spare, reach out to them and figure out how you can support.
there’s nothing stopping you from building the world you want to see every day of the year.
It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today:
– Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them.
– Don’t share things before checking your sources.
– Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot.
