First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged girls and young women to dream big and remain focused as the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) marked three years of impact in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the event themed “Our Stories, Her Impact,” the First Lady said vision, discipline and preparation are essential for success.

“Dreaming is what keeps any human being going. If you sit and don’t have a dream, a vision of what you want to become, it becomes very tough for you,” she said.

She noted that the initiative was established among other things to help girls build confidence, ambition and character, while she encouraged young people to learn etiquette and protocol as preparation for future leadership opportunities.

Reflecting on three years of RHI interventions, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said the Initiative was created to complement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through programmes that improve livelihoods, empower vulnerable groups and create opportunities for better living.

“At the heart of every intervention, every programme and every outreach is a person whose life has been touched, a family that has found support, or a community that has been empowered,” she said.

The First Lady urged beneficiaries to extend kindness to others, adding: “As you have been helped and assisted in one form or the other, do the same for a neighbour that we cannot see, no matter how small.”

Presenting the FCT impact report, former FCT RHI Coordinator, Dr Dayo Benjamins-Laniyi, disclosed that 27,345 people across the six Area Councils benefited from RHI interventions over the last three years.

I suppose some people will still blame President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this too, right?

This is exactly how we often make excuses for obvious wrongdoing.
Worse still, when someone exposes these practices, they are vilified instead of being commended.

The real issue begins with the doctor who directs patients to a particular pharmacy.
In many cases, such referrals are not made in the patient's best interest but because the doctor receives a commission or percentage on every purchase made there.

The level of exploitation in the pharmaceutical sector is alarming.
Selling medications at outrageously inflated prices simply to maximise profits is unethical and unacceptable.
