You are not a Marxist if Cuba's setbacks makes you give up.
Marxism is a science based solely on dialectical materialism. Just like Capitalism struggled in its emergence against feudalism, so too will socialism struggle at first.
We must continue to learn from our mistakes.

"You had one job, restrain your blood thirsty ally, but you couldn't even do that" Iran's Embassy tweets to the US.
It's easy to hate the Soviet Union for making mistakes, that's all the west ever talked about. But for revolutionaries it's one of the greatest treasure troves of socialist experimentation that should be studied and evaluated carefully, and we have barely even begun that work.
Capitalism ruined people's perception of the world and made them think it's normal to be extremely selfish and greedy when it isn't. It's not even natural to think human beings should go without shelter, food, and healthcare simply because they have no money and it's disturbing.

> Discovered Marxism at 18
> Spent three decades in exile
> Returned to Russia at 47 to put Marxism into practice
> Built the first Marxist state in history
There is a massive, unbridgeable gap between Marx and Engels' omnivorous study habits or Lenin's declaration that, "You can become a Communist only when you enrich your mind with a knowledge of all the treasures created by mankind," and dogmatic "Marxists" who only read Marxists.
