Despite Nigeria’s abundant sunshine, i find it interesting that up to a third or more of the population suffers from low vitamin D levels.
This is primarily caused by darker skin pigmentation, which reduces UV absorption, paired with indoor urban lifestyles, cultural sun-avoidance, and diets lacking fortified foods.
I’d be interested in knowing to what extent low vitamin D levels causes hormonal imbalance in Nigerian women.
I find it funny that people equate tourism with exposure. Tourism is entertainment. Exposure is actually living in places and experiencing them. You can also live in a place and be isolated from its realities. I have lived in Togo for 14 years, but only started gaining exposure to Togolese culture this year, as I have lived in a bubble.
Traveling a lot for tourism could mean you have a lot of money for entertainment, but it doesn't make you significantly different from someone who is less traveled and shallow. Living in other places and really experiencing different cultures in-depth changes you fundamentally.
I married someone from another country; she keeps explaining her culture to me, and I keep explaining mine to her. That difference creates room for learning and understanding new experiences. Compatibility is not what most people think it is. It is the willingness to learn from each other and not snobbery.
You all remember how I took Spanish classes and aced my exams. That’s how a potential client sent an email then asked if we had any Spanish speakers. And of course I proudly said yes. Only thing I understood in that meeting was “good afternoon”.
isn’t it so wonderful how we get hungrier and sleepier during luteal phase because, after ovulation, our body assumes that we must have gotten pregnant according to schedule? we crave more food and rest and solitude because our body is acting as if we’re pregnant until our bleed
The best / only way to be satisfied from food is choosing food that you enjoy, food that makes you smile and make you feel happy. Food that leaves you dancing after eating. 😁

neuroplasticity is at its highest during the follicular phase, a couple of days after your period ends. it puts the brain in a highly susceptible learning state, making it the perfect time to create art, learn new and complicated topics, step into a new identity, and experiment in every way.
ovulation makes you expressive, wittier, and more sociable, which nurtures your need for connections at the exact moment you are most receptive to them.
your luteal phase is when threat detection and vigilance become more prominent in the brain. that means your pattern recognition is at its absolute peak, which makes it extra hard to ignore your own mistakes and contradictions. it’s an energetically dense phase that forces you into introspection because your auric field needs to be sealed for internal processing. it’s when you face what needs facing before shedding can take place. can’t lie to yourself here, so you might as well use that honesty in your favor.
finally, menstruation induces the brain into a quieter, lower-stimulation neural environment. it’s both a neurochemical reset window for your brain and a spiritual cleanse of energy accumulated during your last cycle. it pushes you toward self reflection and strategic planning, and makes the brain more internally oriented. this is the time to do deep journaling sessions and big picture adjustments.
you have an entire inner ecosystem that efficiently distributes your immense energetic power in a monthly cyclical manner. it’s about time you learn how to finesse it instead of looking at it as a cruel sentence!
The interesting thing about this is that a lot of the time when people walk into a consulting room with problems and a doctor says fix your diet, stop smoking/drinking, exercise, lose weight etc, patients still end up dissatisfied. 😅
They came in for a magic elixir.
They'll even say "I came here and you've spent 4 minutes and told me to exercise"
They want a plethora of tests and scans.
Look at how GLP-1s have changed the consultations around weight loss, obesity and Cardiovascular disease.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
