On behalf of Canadians, I wish Pope Leo XIV a full and swift recovery following his successful surgery.
His Holiness is a source of hope and inspiration for billions around the world. His message of unity and compassion reminds us of the strength we can offer one another in moments of uncertainty.
As he recovers, may he draw strength from the prayers of those whose lives he has touched, just as so many draw strength from him.
NEW: Pope Leo XIV has made Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the man Rome nicknamed “the Asian Francis,” the face of the Catholic Church while he recovers from lung cancer surgery.
Tagle drew the fury of conservatives for singing a karaoke version of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” but his decades of preaching on wages, corruption and the poor earned him Leo’s trust.
Now that Leo’s cancer has upended the assumption of a long papacy, the Filipino cardinal is emerging as a possible successor. https://t.co/SbIAZZab1f
A good bit of news after a sad day yesterday.
You may know that priests can offer the Masses they celebrate for an intention, but a layperson can also bring an intention into a Mass they attend. Why not offer your next Mass, clergy or lay, for Pope Leo's recovery?
My partner had an MRI the other night at Mac and I couldn’t believe how empty the place was. Now I know why. Ontario needs @LFairclo! https://t.co/GghI5UvhIe
Lee’s leadership will get Ontario back on track after more than 8 years of Ford’s failings.

“Dear migrants, before I say any other word to you, I want to bow before your dignity.
“You are not numbers or case files.
“You are people — with a family and a home left behind, with dreams that no one has the right to scorn.” — Pope Leo XIV

These are the 60 Conservative MPPs who voted against my bill to stop harmful online gambling advertisements.
Thousands of people from across Ontario asked me to fight for this legislation. Yet again, the Ford Conservatives ignore what the people of Ontario ask for.
I will keep fighting to address this crisis. Join me and thousands of Ontarians at https://t.co/zQB3DGWfuR. #onpoli

Pride is a promise — that every Canadian can live safely, openly, and proudly as themselves.
On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we recommit ourselves to fight for the dignity, security, and equal rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada and around the world.
Ontario’s health care minister laughed out loud when I asked her about nurse respect and retention in question period.
She may find my plea laughable, but nurses are speaking out about the reality. She should listen. 👇

After sitting down with Lee Fairclough in Hamilton recently, I know this to be true. “She is chipper not chippy, exuding authenticity and curiosity in a field of towering egos.”
Pope Leo’s message to Trump ain’t subtle.
The Pope just appointed a former undocumented immigrant, Evelio Menjivar-Ayala, as the new Bishop of West Virginia.
Same day, he named Rev. Robert Boxie auxiliary bishop of Washington. A Howard University chaplain who’s been clear: Trump’s attacks on DEI are a dangerous “regression” in the fight for racial equality.
NEW: For the first time since 2021, the Progressive Conservatives have fallen to second place in popular opinion polling.
The Liberals, who have yet to elect a leader, are now at 38% while Doug Ford’s party has fallen to 36% according to a Liaison Strategies poll.
This is part of a trend in polls. (338 graphic)
