"This is about stories, and the intricate ways in which they become part of us and our world– the ways our lives and struggles are reflected, subverted, and reinforced."

Castiel’s confession is the tip of an iceberg, but some either cannot or will not see what is under the water. Who determines where the water line lies seemingly holds power over us all.
"In the absence of a resounding, consistent answer from those at the helm of Supernatural... we are left to return to the story on our own terms. We are left to advocate for it, and for ourselves, the same way." https://t.co/8ZGgQ6pyM4

"In Supernatural, the characters got to be real, if just for a moment, and it was this moment of being that revealed how the story would fail without the having. No matter what came after, that is why we are still here." https://t.co/eihF6V9fm2

i've been thinking about supernatural more these days than i have in years... i think there will always be a link in my mind between absurd global politics and this finale. the bleaker things get, the greater the urge to make sense of both.
maybe in another five years.

@SarahLister Thought I'd replied, thank you sm! Like you said, TW has shaped a kinder place to tell stories, & to me that's been the most radical & gratifying shift of all- this gentler storytelling is what I'd always hoped Spn could let itself have. Whatever's next, this alone was worth it.
Castiel’s romantic love for Dean and Dean’s romantic love for Castiel; Castiel’s queerness and Dean’s queerness; are definitively part of S/pn’s canon. (1)
Comprehensive, insightful, & crucial. I’ve yet to read an examination of the final season that does such thorough justice to what this story was, and what it could have been. When folks say we’ll never see anything like Supernatural again, this is why. 🧵 https://t.co/eTd5tti9r5
The story is about love. Any attempt to make it about something else only shows “Chuck’s” hand. It only makes that love stronger.
It only makes us louder.
So they did change the game, just enough, just by *being*. We all did, together. Enough that we can see the cracks in the structure, that we can see the empty spaces left by what should have been, even if we didn’t quite get to *have* the way we and they deserved.
