@b_co_co My “local” plumbing/electrical contractor in NJ used to have great service and reasonable prices. We just had some eye-popping estimates. The guy with the IPad straight up admits this brother-founded biz is NOW part of a company based in UT. I will now look for sole proprietors.

@MattWalshBlog Simplistic take. Certainly some fritter away savings. But many other people view self sufficiency in old age as lifting a “burden” as their children have made their own lives. Women work, adult kids move far away. Traditional support systems have changed as longevity increased.

@Irina_exh I think about remaining years at times, but don’t dwell on it. My parents and my MIL are all alive, and my FIL passed at 93. So if we are blessed, we may still have some years ahead.
