@cptdankkk 4) The fact there weren't streaming services meant that more people were watching those films. If you saw a movie there was a good chance your friends, colleagues, and the rest of the planet saw it or knew about it. In some way it united you to the rest of humanity.

@cptdankkk Movies at the theater felt special for many reasons: 1) The audience creates a stronger sense of reaction, like going to a sporting event with fans. 2) The big screen gives the film a sense of gravitas. 3) The fact you can't see it at home for a long time makes it exclusive.

@sarahsalviander Yes, the old shows were often fun and relatable, and in my opinion, also with better moral foundations, in a way that was not preachy but rather a product of great storytelling and characters.

@JosephKahn Great point, and I think it shows how Netflix views itself not primarily as a purveyor of "must see" movies or shows, but rather something to fill the void that enough people are willing to pay for, even if those same people are not thrilled about it.

@landofthe80s This is really apples and oranges to me, because they both were perfectly cast for their different eras. On a side note, Gal looks very similar to her animated look on TV.

They made it clear from her brief appearance in Superman and from the trailers for Supergirl that it's important for us to know that she seems trashy at least on the surface even if she *might* be good deep down.

Trashy shouldn't be what makes a superhero special.

(Spoiler) The idea that Supergirl is a drunk party girl, for whatever excuse (trauma from Krypton),even if it was in some comic books for a period, is again showing the lack of understanding of the collective conscious of who Supergirl is. #Supergirl

The only solution I see is if some movie studio steps up to the plate and delivers a TON of really great "theater" films (artistic and commercial, preferably both combined) per year. To the point that the STUDIO becomes the brand people care about on a massive level. (2 of 2)

Audiences are now so fragmented between streaming services and so few to go theaters, that even most "successful" films and shows simply aren't part of the cultural zeitgeist, which robs the films of a certain magic. (1 of 2)

@Variety Though I don't like Batman fighting Supes or killing him (even temporarily), the LOOK of the film is A+. Batman LOOKS like Batman. His hand-to-hand combat is the best live action version. All the heroes' costumes look inspired and look like they belong in the real world.

@TheCinesthetic As far as hand-to-hand combat goes, this was the most compelling portrayal of Batman in a live-action film. Not sure if most people know that for parts of this, they used a stuntman and digitally changed the head/face for Batman.
