Class One have been busy carrying out a range of Easter themed activities this week. They have shown a great interest in the Easter story in class and were delighted to see it acted out by Open the Book on Wednesday.

This week in Class 1 we have been exploring the world and learning the 7 continents. Our next challenge is to investigate how the world has changed over time.

Our amazing Class 1 performed their version of the Nativity to their family and friends on Monday.
They were all superstars and we are all very proud of them.

Class 1 have been busy writing their very important letters to Santa. Then our very own Class 1 Elf took these letters to Santa's post box in the village 🎅

Our Year 1 authors have been putting the finishing touches to their innovated story ‘The Penguin Babies’. They are looking forward to sharing their completed stories.

We were very lucky to have some special visitors to Class 1.Jack from the Screech Owl Sanctuary brought along three beautiful owls & Stinky Pete the Polecat. The class loved the opportunity to get up close to each of the owls & gain more information about their incredible species

Class 4 have enjoyed a thoroughly musical morning. They have composed their own piece of music whilst being supported by Matt from Endelienta Arts!

Working in small groups, we acted out the events of and around the HMS Endurance becoming beset in pack ice. This helped us to understand it more and make us consider the feelings Shackleton and the crew may have felt to then write about it emotively in a diary entry.

We received a special delivery from the Natural History Museum. We set to work as Historians to try & discover what these fossils belonged to, we recorded our findings and shared this with Natural History Museum. We are looking forward to what we will discoverer.

Class One had great fun using different medias to create some fantastic firework pictures. We also discussed the importance of keeping ourselves safe on Bonfire night.

Class 1 have brought together all their Enquiry learning this half term by the Year 1s using their own hand drawn maps, which include symbols to direct their Reception friends around the school grounds.

This week we have been looking closely at our letter formation of our learnt sounds. The children got to explore different sensory trays to form given sounds, using the RWI handwriting patterns to support them.

We loved having a visit from a local dental nurse! She told us all about teeth brushing and how to stay healthy. We got to chew on dark purple, bubble-gum flavoured tablets to show where plaque sticks to our teeth. We then brushed it off again. It was a lot of fun and very messy!

Our Class 1 Mathematicians have been exploring the number 2 using a range of resources and using practical methods to solve a variety of addition number problems.

Class 3 immersed themselves back into nature by data collecting the types of trees and mini beast that inhabit our local woodland.  On our walk down we plotted our journey using our OS map symbol knowledge and immersed ourselves in the soundscapes of the woodland itself.

Class One continue to be explorers and develop their understanding of maps. Last week we created our own symbols to use on our school map.

Last week Class 2 worked on their geographical skills . We had great fun putting maps of the local area back together and then using these to create a route we could follow for our trip.
