The Kotaku of Beeve Reporting. • See a beeve? Let me know! • (NOTE: I am not the legendary Dan @deliciousbees Teasdale, but we are very close friends.)
Oh no, the generational gamer chasm between the “pay YouTubers they add value” grown up Minecraft kids and the “taking money to cover games is both lame & untrustworthy” of their older siblings.
I PLEAD THE FIFTH!
(at least on Twitter, this ain’t the place to unpack this one)
@deliciousbees Remember that time I revealed my identity to you at E3 2014 and you were upset with me because the first time you met @TimOfLegend all he wanted to know was whether or not this account was you? I will miss this hellsite and I’m glad it brought us together.
i'll reply to this because I am a member and former leader in the Asian American Journalists Association.
I didn't know he said that, and maybe we would've found time for me to challenge it.
But the Asian "model minority" issue isn't something known outside our community
@GenePark I know you probably won't reply to this, but I hope you do read the comments where a bunch of people are agreeing with Colin's white supremacist talking points regarding Asian Americans.
Which is why platforming / endorsing is so dangerous for people like you and me.
Usually this isn't a big deal, but there are some people/platforms where I wouldn't be comfortable lending my voice or giving that implicit legitimacy.
If you're a public figure of any kind, giving an interview to someone to "get your message out" or whatever also confers some implicit legitimacy on the person/organization giving you the platform.
The "delay" to Call of Duty 2023 will not only make for a more polished product but be the first "current-gen only" Call of Duty title.
Exciting times ahead for Call of Duty.
rather microsoft's capital sit in a bank doing nothing? idk. the only real argument against all of this, when you boil it down, is "capitalism bad microsoft bad," which is fine, but be honest; you don't care about the staff and you don't care about consumers.
Do you care about Activision-Blizzard staff getting a much-needed change in leadership? Would you prefer Zuckerberg or Bezos? Or do you want to preserve the status quo with Kotick in charge forever?
This is the best outcome in our current economic system.
When game journalists decry the deal between Xbox and Activision, they're exposing their bias.
When you get free games, and have a huge editor salary, it's easy to sit in an ivory tower and tell the serfs that $70 per game vs. Xbox Game Pass is somehow "better" for consumers.
