Let’s showcase Sierra Leone’s innovation on the global stage! 🌍💡
This afternoon, I visited Connaught Hospital to assess ongoing projects including the construction of the Burns Unit, the installation of a 1 Megawatt (MW) Solar Energy System for reliable power provision, and the operationalization of the Electronic Medical Records system initiated by my office a year ago. I also visited the new microbiology lab, the dialysis center, and the new trauma center. These new projects are vital to improving diagnosis and patient care.
I was excited to learn that the Burns Unit will support our sister countries of Guinea and Liberia with specialized training on burn management and care.Together, with @DembyAustin we will deliver on @julius_maadabio mandate to improve access to quality healthcare in Sierra Leone and strengthen health systems in the sub-region.
This morning, I opened the 47th Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the #Sierraleone Medical and Dental Association in #freetown where I reiterated government’s commitment to improving health outcomes. I highlighted successes such as the considerable reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates, increased number of health care workers, and significant investments to improve health infrastructure across the country which continue to impact the quality of health care provision. I called for stronger collaboration with SLMDA to consolidate the gains and better prepare the health workforce for future challenges. #bigfive #qualityhealthcare
