We’ve been sending messages to drivers about this at the behest of LCC licensing today. Having now seen the signage you’d expect appeals to be ultimately won by PHDs because there is NOTHING that distinguishes this bus lane from other lanes / gates with exactly the same signage where PHVs are allowed in the same Local Authority. To our knowledge this is the ONLY bus lane in the Merseyside region where PHVs aren’t allowed.
PS: Princes Avenue doesn’t meet Upper Parliament St (Princes Rd does)
A new westbound bus lane has been introduced on Upper Parliament Street between Princes Avenue and Mulgrave Street. Please note that Private Hire Vehicles (PHVs) are not permitted to use this bus lane. Access is restricted to buses, Hackney Carriages (taxis) and cyclists only.
Due to rising fuel costs, self-employed drivers operating through Delta are introducing a temporary 20p fuel surcharge to the first mile of each journey, resulting in a total passenger cost increase of 20p per trip. The surcharge is temporary with fares reverting back to usual as soon as pump prices normalise.

VAT ON FARES - A CLARIFICATION
Private hire operators who structure their business as a PRINCIPAL (like Uber) have ALWAYS been required to apply 20% VAT to the fares they supply. Operators who instead structure their business as an AGENT (like Delta) have NEVER been required to apply VAT as the fares are supplied by each individual driver operating through them.
Uber tried avoiding their 20% liability by latching on to a marginal relief scheme that had been introduced solely for Tour Operators. The recent budget put a stop to this so there was no increase in fares or vat added on … VAT had always applied to their business model, they were just made to get back in the correct lane.

By engaging with drivers, we want to capture the real voice of the industry and create a report that can influence future policy to benefit everyone in the trade.
Service Update: The Global Internet Crowdstrike Issue is only causing very minor issues with our service. Bookings are being dispatched and received by drivers as normal.
A little video on the implications of yesterday’s appeal judgement by Driver Matty. Thanks to Matty for taking the time to read the judgement and make a video.
