@HMSBritannia82@nickyperks@BrotherBarnett Ah yes, a cherry picked angle, from the early 2000's that you happen to not like the aesthetics of. Totally a great argument that having personal transport doesnt allow for more freedom of movement. Well played!
@TheRubenSaurus Definitely the odyssey! Looking forward to the day it can replace my polaris as my mobile base. MISC interiors have come a long way too. Industrial, but in a weird, comfy way. And their ships have windows which is surprisingly rare in the verse
@quirked_up_anzu In the old EU novels, their flight suits have the same containment fields that keep air inside of the hangars on ships. They only last about 30 mins, and they do next to nothing to insulate against the cold.
Powering the next giant leap.
A novel electromagnetic thruster that runs on lithium metal vapor was successfully fired up for the first time during initial tests at JPL.
Fully developed and paired with a nuclear power source, these thrusters could reduce launch mass and support payloads required for human Mars missions.
@OsrsNeb@discolando Probably more MK2's is my guess. Ships like the freelancers are fundamentally outside of metric. No suit lockers, no weapon racks, two players cant pass each other, etc. And thats just one example. Cutlass has issues, any old RSI ship is totally outside the new style guide, etc.
@a2asimulations Typically I'll do a yearly pilgrimage from my home airport to oshkosh during the event, but the accusim challenge has me bouncing the comanche all over the place on a global flight at the moment
@mishy_the_fishy@guttenbirder22 Uh what? Ive got 700lbs of trail armor and gear on my third gen, and live in mountainous terrain. I average 20mpg on KO3s
@hana_biart@jiveb0mber@FaXistic Bro its a pressurized metal tube that tests have shown can fill up with lethal amounts of toxic smoke in 90 seconds. Crash survivors will have varying levels of injury/mobility with which to use that 90 seconds to not die. How do you design around that in reality?
@a2asimulations I've mostly settled onto the engine monitor in the comanche, with a focus on manifold pressure. I fly primarily in the PNW, so carb icing is a threat 2/3 of the year.
@SeattleWXGuy@airmainengineer His concern is the filter is known to be reaching the end of its service life, and is showing signs that it does indeed need replacing. There's no actual issue yet, but there are a few notable accidents resulting from fuel contamination, and ETOPS is a concern, so hes bagging it.
@Habubrats71 That envelope is what is known as a blood chit. Usually a card that has text printed in a handful of relevant languages that tells locals they will be rewarded for helping the pilot return to a US base. Sounds like they used to carry a bit of cash as a starter incentive too.
@NZJamesS@Billzilla5@Turbinetraveler Just jumping in here, theyve been built, and sitting outside my hangar for nearly 5 years, it's most definitely "out" as far as dimensions are concerned
@a2asimulations Awesome! Any chance we'll ever get the option to cram some insulated covers or something in those upper windows for summer flights in the Desert?
