Kung i-allow ng Sandiganbayan umattend ang mga nakakulong, they can vote.

Sa impeachment trial kahapon, ipinaliwanag ni Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang ang Section 13 ng Article VII ng Konstitusyon.

Dito nakasaad: Bawal magnegosyo ang Presidente at Bise Presidente habang nasa puwesto. Kahit sa iba nakapangalan ang negosyo, kung siya talaga ang nakikinabang, bawal pa rin.

Simple ang prinsipyo: Hindi puwedeng pagsabayin ang pinakamataas na kapangyarihan sa gobyerno at pansariling interes sa negosyo.

Pero bakit parang ayaw nila itong malaman mo?

The libel and cyberlibel complaints filed by jailed doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy, the “appointed Son of God” and “owner of souls and the universe,” against Akbayan Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña, and Rep. Leila de Lima are laughable.

Akala ba natin si Quiboloy ang may-ari ng sanlibutan? Bakit siya takot sa mga pahayag ng mga mortal na mambabatas? 

Quiboloy enjoys being called all sorts of ridiculous things, but not things grounded in facts.

Akbayan stands by the victims’ testimonies and the legal records in the Philippines and the United States. Philippine courts have found probable cause and strong evidence of guilt in the cases against Quiboloy, while a US federal grand jury indicted him on sex-trafficking charges, including trafficking of children. The US has now formally sought his extradition.

Mr. Quiboloy, no absurd heavenly appointment can exempt anyone from earthly accountability. Not even you the so-called owner of the universe.
