I am one lucky man.
I’ve experienced life as an Obidient, and today I am a Progressive. I can confidently say they are two completely different ideologies.
Yesterday, I experienced something I hadn’t felt. It was as though the Super Eagles won the World Cup. I genuinely felt what it means to love your country and sincerely want the best for it.
The moment the news broke that the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and their teachers had been rescued, my phone practically exploded. Calls everywhere, messages from everywhere. People were congratulating one another, celebrating, thanking God.
Not because any of us had our own children among those rescued.
We were simply happy that innocent Nigerians made it home alive.
That joy was real and pure. It reminded me that the life of every Nigerian matters.
As an Obidient, I never experienced that kind of collective joy for Nigeria. The atmosphere was always different. If the news was good, people looked for reasons to downplay it. If it was bad, na there everybody go gather, begin push agenda. The mindset often seemed to be that nothing good should ever be acknowledged. It always felt like if Nigeria recorded a win, some people were disappointed because it didn’t fit the narrative they had already built.
Yesterday changed something in me forever.
For the first time in a long while, I felt genuinely proud to be a Nigerian. People celebrated the success of our security forces and the safe return of fellow citizens without bitterness.
Yesterday reaffirmed that I am with a group that celebrates Nigeria’s victories, no matter how small or big. A group that wants this country to succeed because when Nigeria wins, we all win.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
PETER OBI MUST APOLOGISE TO AIRPORT STAFF AND PAY THE FINE FOR WRONG PARKING
As the Minister of Aviation, I felt a moral duty to investigate and authenticate the claim made by opposition candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, a few days ago that the tyres of his car were ‘unjustly’ clamped at the airport, suggesting a ‘persecution agenda’ against him by the Federal Government. Politics aside, every Nigerian is entitled to fair treatment under the law.
I therefore instituted an internal inquiry over the issue.
Luckily enough, the entire Abuja airport is covered by CCTV cameras, real-time, 24/7. But apparently, this fact was unknown to Mr. Peter Obi. Otherwise, perhaps he would have been more circumspect before rushing to the media to cry ‘persecution’.
From the recordings, these are the facts:
1. On Saturday, July 4th, 2026, Mr. Obi arrived at the domestic wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at exactly 20:28 pm, driven by a Policeman. He alighted with two other occupants and went into the terminal building.
2. The Police driver then parked the vehicle, almost blocking the entrance and came out himself and went into the terminal building too. The airport rule is that, apart from the fact that it is a drop-off zone, a driver must remain behind the wheels of the vehicle for it to be tolerated for some time within that zone. Still the vehicle tyres were not clamped.
3. The Policeman came back to the vehicle at about 20:32pm and collected something from the vehicle and went back into the building again, leaving the vehicle unattended to.
4. At this point, the dutiful airport security staff came over and clamped the tyres of the car. In doing this, contrary to the claims by Peter Obi, nobody was inside the car and so nobody knew whether it was his car (not that it should matter, anyway).
5. When the Policeman returned again and discovered the tyres were clamped, he was directed to an office and upon getting there, he called Mr. Peter Obi on his phone and gave the phone to the manager. Mr. Peter Obi then introduced himself and spoke with the manager, peddled his ‘influence’ and requested for the release of the vehicle. His vehicle was then released without him paying the necessary fine.
6. It is important to note that the time the vehicle was parked unattended to in that prohibited zone was about 30 minutes, which constitutes a security risk at an airport by global best practices.
What has emerged from this is a clear case of an opposition candidate trying to whip up unnecessary sentiments for a wrong he committed with his driver. The excuse which Mr. Peter Obi gave that there were other offenders too on that day (which is completely false) cannot be an excuse for an individual aspiring to be President of Nigeria. He must live above board.
This is a matter that was not even mentioned at all by the airport authorities and had been put to rest. But ever determined to milk any situation to score cheap political points, Mr. Peter Obi decided to go on air to render a false narrative.
Therefore, he must also face the consequences of his actions. (I have attached the CCTV footages to this statement for the public to clearly see what transpired.)
In the circumstances, consistent with the principle of equality before the law, as Minister of Aviation, I make the following demands on Mr. Peter Obi:
1. That he tenders an unreserved, public apology to those hardworking, ordinary Nigerian workers at the airport, just doing their jobs dutifully and whom he sought to blackmail as his ‘persecutors’.
2. That Mr. Peter Obi voluntarily goes back to the airport and pay the appropriate fine of N25,000 for wrongful parking at the airport for which he used ‘influence peddling’ to bully his way out on that day. He cannot be bigger than the law.
If these demands are not met within one week, I will be giving the necessary directives to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to take the next steps against him.
If this BREAKING NEW of parents getting their kids back in Orire LGA of Oyo State made you sad, irritated or pessimistic, WHOEVER YOU ARE (Imam, Bishop, Pastor, Anointed or Annoying), you need to take a break and treat yourself PRAYERFULLY. You're already under the influence of demonic activity with gall of bitterness.
If what first came to your mind was pessimism of any kind when you heard the News, even if you didn't say it out, it's time for you to EXAMINE YOURSELF, your heart is filled with darkness, you're living in HELL ALREADY!
Tonight, our nation has reason to give thanks.
The children and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State have been rescued by our security forces, alive and unharmed. No ransom was paid. No concession was made.
I salute every officer and operative whose courage, discipline, and professionalism made this possible.
To those who seek to spread fear through terror, know that the Nigerian state will pursue you relentlessly. We will protect our people, defend our communities, and never relent until peace and security prevail across our country.
BOLA AHMED TINUBU
President & Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria
I HAVE WRITTEN MORE ABOUT THE PFIPC SCANDAL THAN ALMOST ANYONE. I AM NOT CALLING FOR GBAJABIAMILA'S RESIGNATION. HERE IS WHY.
There are three types of people calling for Femi Gbajabiamila's resignation. Maybe four. Let me break them down because most people are not being honest about which category they fall into.
Category 1 — The Concerned Loyalists
These are genuine Tinubu supporters who believe the controversy, regardless of guilt or innocence, is becoming a political liability for the administration. They are not saying Gbaja is guilty. They are saying the noise is too loud and the President's agenda is being distracted by a story that will not go away. Their call is strategic, not evidentiary. They want a cleaner political picture heading into 2027. This is actually the most honest category because it at least acknowledges that the resignation call has nothing to do with the facts of the case.
Category 2 — The Interested Parties
This is where it gets specific. Gbajabiamila controls access to the President. He is the most powerful gatekeeper in the administration. That role creates enemies who are not ideological opponents.
They are people whose business interests, appointments, contracts and proximity to the Presidency have been blocked or frustrated by his existence in that office. People who have presented proposals that never reached the President's desk. People whose preferred appointments did not go through.
Add to this his actual APC rivals. People eyeing the position. People who have been outmanoeuvred in party politics. People whose influence has been diminished by his dominance in the State House. This group is using the scandal as a vehicle. They would use any vehicle. This one is simply moving faster than usual.
Category 3 — The Opposition Operation
This is the most cynical category and the most important to name precisely. Their demand is not really a resignation demand. It is a trap with no exit. If Tinubu sacks Gbajabiamila, they will say it proves guilt and Tinubu should follow. If Tinubu keeps him, they will say Tinubu is complicit and shielding corruption. There is no outcome in this scenario that satisfies them because a satisfying outcome was never the goal. Destabilising the administration heading into 2027 is the goal. This scandal is the instrument. The demand for resignation is the pressure mechanism.
Now the evidence reality
After all three categories have been accounted for, one thing cuts through every argument. Nothing in the documented record points to Gbajabiamila as a culprit in the PFIPC operation.
The budget entry question points to civil servants inside the Budget Office preparation chain. The question about the CBN account points to OAGF officials. The Federal Secretariat office points to building management. The NITDA domain points to whoever handled the verification application. The OHCSF recruitment waiver points to Mimi Abu and her approval chain.
None of those institutional trails leads to the Chief of Staff's desk in any documented way.
The sole evidence connecting Gbajabiamila personally to the financial claims is the word of Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew. A man currently facing eight counts of forgery and impersonation at the Federal High Court in Abuja. A man who contradicted his own police statement when he made those public allegations. A man who has been parading fake titles and forging documents since his days at LAUTECH.
That is it. That is the entire evidentiary foundation of the resignation campaign.
My position
I am not calling for Gbajabiamila's resignation. Not because I am covering for anyone. Because I do not believe the documented record establishes his guilt in this matter.
I have written more about this scandal than almost anyone on this platform. I have named institutions. I have named officials. I have demanded answers from the Budget Office, the OAGF, NITDA, the CBN and the OHCSF…..(1/2)
