We are demanding justice for our people. We deserve clean drinking water.
This is our Flint and our people are dying. We have filed a petition to the @EPA, along with several partners, to demand accountability and clean up now!

Well, apparently everyone but Commissioner Michael Ellison, Vice-Chair of the NC EMC Water Quality Committee.

Our organization launched the “EMC Don’t Wait, Ban the Eight” Campaign calling for the EMC to ban all 8 #PFAS chemicals, not just the politicized 3. All of NC deserves clean drinking water, not Just one city.

As the EMC begins its meetings today to consider the @NCDEQ proposed standards for PFAS in surface and groundwater, I have sent the following letter to the EMC clarify mischaracterizations and misunderstandings contained in a recent @NCChamber letter on this subject.
This morning, @DemocracyGreen delivered a petition of nearly 130 signatures and growing to the NC Environmental Management Commission, supporting @NCDEQ call to ban 8 cancer-causing PFAS.

Thank you for the ethical journalism in covering @DemocracyGreen efforts, the people, our impacts from #PFAS exposure and the truth.
EMC Remove all 8 PFAS
Thank you for your continued service to the people of NC- advocating, providing clear scientific data & bold action to tackle #PFAS. We have dozens of members and volunteers who have reported illnesses due to exposure. There is enough proof of impact, EMC must remove all 8 PFAS.
I’m disappointed that the EMC, yet again, refused to take action on PFAS standards that protect the health and pocketbooks of North Carolinians. The science is clear - PFAS exposures have health impacts, including cancer. The people of NC have waited too long for action.
There are real world consequences to their lack of action - our analysis shows that not setting standards results in more than 9,000 avoidable cancer-related deaths, and thousands of cases of additional health impacts.
The EMC had all the information they needed to move forward - but they continue to move the goalposts. They are more interested in protecting polluters than protecting the health of everyday North Carolinians.#PFAS

Thank you @SecretaryBiser for you and your staff’s continued leadership and science standing for North Carolinians against the continued threats of #PFAS.

RALEIGH, DURHAM, & NC ENVIRONMENTALIST!
Tomorrow the Environmental Management Commission will be considering a critical vote to pass or deny water quality criteria that can for PFAS from NC drinking water and restore fish habitats. Join @DemocracyGreen for a press conference
Yesterday, nearly 30 community leaders representing over 25 #NC counties came together to call on the Environmental Management Commission to approve @NCDEQ recommendations to remove 8 PFAS from our drinking water sources. The EMC decided to stall the vote but we won’t be silenced
On Wednesday ahead of the EMC Committee Meetings on drinking water source standards, Community leaders united at the #Capitol to shed light on the impact of PFAS contamination and urge the Environmental Management Commission to eliminate all eight #PFAS from our drinking water.
