Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control:
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and has shed his own blood for my soul.
It is well with my soul;
it is well, it is well with my soul.
-Horatio Gates Spafford

Our Christianity should sound like, “the world is full of neighbors to be understood and loved,” not “the world is full of enemies to be feared and conquered.”
The conclusion of Samuel's farewell sermon to God's people:
"Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you" (1 Sam 12:24).

Hope arrived. Not in a politician, a political party, ideology, system, or even a nation.
Rather, hope arrived in the person of Jesus Christ.

And then...live out this hope. Amen.
