I used to believe that building habits was mostly about having enough discipline or motivation and that if I really wanted something, I would naturally stick to it.
But then life would get busy and slowly I would begin to skip one day, then another, until I eventually went back to my old patterns without even realizing it.
I learnt that each time you repeat an action, you are strengthening a neural pathway that makes that behaviour easier and more automatic, even when you do not feel like doing it.
At first, that pathway is weak, so everything feels like effort and resistance, but with consistency, it becomes stronger until the behavior starts to happen almost automatically.
So when it feels difficult to stay consistent, it simply means your brain is still in the process of rewiring itself.
Eventually, if you keep repeating the action long enough, what once required effort becomes your default way of operating.
