@8thGenCA So the powers of Congress and the Supreme Court will change in this instance? The threat of legislation reshuffling the deck is bound by original jurisdiction, no? I went to school on the other side of the campus but just sayin'.
@h2oexecutive@Sammy_Roth@nature_org@8thGenCA has opined and been solicited on this solar endeavor many of times, but like floating icebergs to So Cal or a fleet of offshore desal ships, it doesn't pencil
@h2oexecutive @CoryCopelandH2O @IAmTomzo Not true...we do have the ability to sell QSA water outside our service area and also have the legal ability to store water in Mead. Cory, the later is what you've been hearing and I can DM you the state and federal contracts to support this.
@IAmTomzo@h2oexecutive@HacheHacheiii@CindyCotter @jemersmith @usbr Correction, the good old days of enjoying junior water rights are gone. You don't have to go back to 1922, do your research on the events of 2002.
@CoryCopelandH2O We need a definitive list of fake vs real water rights. I mean there are a lot of posers out there acting like someone owes them something.
@IAmTomzo Don't disagree re flows. Most farmers aren't rich. Their land is valuable, margins are viarable. That's why SDCWA provides an Ag discount and the same reason your customers want to find a deeper discount. If its not about money, what is it? Capitalism is not self righteous.
Forage crops not the problem. Willingness to pay is. Water rights have legal standing and an economic value. Pay growers a fair market value for the resource. They will make a choice. Don't ask for an altruistic solution that when flipped for urban communities would be comedy
@IAmTomzo Government can giveth and taketh away, but with compensation! When you tell a grower they cannot grow alfalfa and must grow casinos, in the desert, theres a problem. The issue will be solved by market conditions not socialism. Just like ag imports from Mexico in SD right?
@IAmTomzo Sorry Tom - not buying your argument. Property rights are embeded in our U.S. constitution, powers and limitations of the state and federal government, etc. etc. etc. To localize it, what is eminent domain? A "reasonable take" but with fair compensation suggesting, a value.
