Kaijuka and Stephen died in the crash, while Kaijuka’s four children survived with fractures after becoming trapped in the wreckage beneath the truck for about four hours.

An eyewitness, Ivan, who lives in the area, maintained communication with the children throughout the ordeal, offering them reassurance and encouragement.

Ivan said he asked the children for their mother’s telephone number after they told him she had remained in Kampala. The contact enabled rescuers to alert the family and coordinate the response.

After about four hours, rescuers managed to carefully remove the children from the wreckage.

Guys, four children (of Kenneth now deceased) were trapped in a car wreckage for four hours, fours comrades!

It took relatives traveling from Fortportal town to the accident scene to have the children rescued! This is a 1hr & 30mins drive good people.

How/when does the @PoliceUg emergency and rescue department work!

@M_Kananura you guys might have to start taking Ugandans seriously.

THE JUDICIAL OFFICER IN UGANDA Vs COL. DR. KIIZA BESIGYE & ORS SHOULD IN PUBLIC INTEREST CONSIDER A RECUSAL FROM HEARING THE CASE IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE JUDICIARY'S INTEGRITY:-

In June 2025, I and some selected Christians from North Kigezi Diocese @Northkigezidio1 accompanied the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe @AsiimweOnesimus on a pastoral visit to Dr. Kizza Besigye at Luzira Max Prison. We prayed together with Dr. Kiiza Besigye and reflected on faith, justice, and hope.

During our engagement, Dr. Besigye reiterated his readiness to face trial and his major prayer was for a fair hearing before an impartial court. He expressed concern about delays in the administration of justice and the conduct of the presiding judicial officer in his case that is before the High Court of Uganda.

As an advocate and a former Secretary of the Uganda Law Society, it is my belief that Dr. Kiiza Besigye's case reminds us of enduring principles that safeguard the rule of law and Constitutionalism.

As Lord Chief Justice Hewart famously observed: "Justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done." That principle remains the cornerstone of public confidence in the Judiciary.

Similarly, Lord Denning reminded us that: "Justice is rooted in confidence, and confidence is destroyed when right-minded people go away thinking: 'The judge was biased'."

It is my considered opinion that, it is in the public interest, and to preserve public confidence in the Judiciary and administration of justice that the presiding Judicial Officer in the case of Ug Vs Dr.Kiiza Besigye & Ors should carefully consider whether recusal is necessary at this point!

It is a settled principle of law that an accused has no right to dictate or choose a judicial officer before whom their case should be heard HOWEVER where circumstances exist like in this case that may reasonably give rise to an apprehension of bias or otherwise undermine the public's confidence in the Judiciary, the Judicial Officer may in public interest recuse himself from hearing the case and this is not an acknowledgement of of bias but a measure to uphold the integrity of the Judiciary.

The legitimacy of our courts rests not only on their decisions but also on the public's confidence in their impartiality, independence and accountability to the people of Uganda.
