Teach Control Technology and Product Design at Murrays Bay Intermediate. Love being outdoors on the sea, on our yacht and pottering/pondering in our garden.
I have 2 yr 8 boys wanting to make simulated tsunamis as part of their personal science investigation. Does anyone know of websites, software or apps they could use to do this? #tsunamis#earthquakes
@melulater I totally agree with you! I stressed and lost sleep over having days with no pay and going to a march whn i cld have been tching our tamariki and completing workload. Non union members I know had days of no contact and some had a long lunch at the garden centre or yum cha.
@realteachnz @elissamalespina Sounds fun and focused. Would like to see yr stds in action sometime Lee. Would tie in with my teaching and trialling of a maker space in technology. #futureintech
@elissamalespina I definitely enjoyed this reading. Food for thought in going forward. I am already using a STEAM approach, developed a Maker space and school wide mindfulness is a focus. I think now I need to incorporate future technologies in career discussions and encourage life long learning
@EllenvaleJrHigh Go Mrs Han! My students love to make music with Makey Makey and play doh. We are ready for more complex tasks now. Any ideas or advice or examples would be helpful.
@csditecs @TomahawkCSD83 I think these marble races are really cool! What was the brief and did the students have a time limit to create them? How much planning and collaboration was involved?
@KeelingClub212 @remakelearning @cntr4creativity @makerbot I find this too! Sometimes I have students who are anxious, overstimulated or upset, just like to take time out and watch the 3D printer do its print job, then come back and join into the maker space environment.
@RCSMediaCenter@apundt0401@glowforge Tell me more! What is the warrior club and how do they attain medals? Do they design their own medals. I have a laser cutting and engraving machine and am just starting out with using it with my Intermediate aged students. We are developing ideas and images for clock faces.
@PonokaElem Taking things apart (disassembly) is such a great way of learning about how things work. What is the focus for the students learning here? Are they going to rebuild into something else?
@mpsmakerspace@LEGO_Group@KEVAplanks That is so cool! I love the building of an amusement park theme as it is relevant to the age group. I'm guessing this was a collaborative effort?
What is the wooden structure in the background? Did you have a rubric for success criteria? What are the next steps?
