My dad is turning 80 soon.🙏🏻
The best decision my siblings and I made was moving him to live with us after his 76th birthday.
We rotate him among us every few months just like mothers rotate among her children.
We decided to care for him at this period he needs us more.
We no longer have our mother 😭but this father we have also sacrificed a lot for us all.
Happy father's day to you Dad and to all men who are present in their families emotionally, financially, spiritually and otherwise.
May your days be long on earth and may you enjoy the fruit of your labour in Jesus name.
Amen.
1. A friend came to stay the weekend with us at Doctors’ Quarters in UNIBEN in 1988. We didn't know he was allergic to eggs, and someone used the same oil that had been used to fry eggs to fry plantains. He ate the plantains and started immediately looking like the Michelin Man. Our landlord (a doctor) saved him with Hydrocortisone.
2. My youngest sister came to Accra for a visit and decided to do her hair. Some overzealous hairdresser decided she needed to dye her hair. The dye touched her scalp and she lost most of her hair while her head swelled double. She ended up in hospital for days.
3. I ate some fried meat balls in Togo in 2021 and went into shock. I recovered in hospital 8 hours later. Ended up in Accra and in hospital for a week. I don't eat processed meat till today.
4. Also me, earlier this year. I ate too much groundnuts and had a swollen neck. Ended up in hospital with complications including anaemia.
People die of allergies in Africa regularly and they call it “witchcraft.”
@DrJoeAbah@obinali_henry I doubt that it was challenged in court. I read recently that INEC initially rejected registration of NDC because "their logo was similar to that of APC". NDC challenged the decision in court and won the case. INEC was ordered to register the party, and they obeyed.
THINGS YOU MOST LIKELY WILL NOT REGRET DOING
Studying more. Drinking more water. Being more honest. Going to bed early. Meditating more. Quitting a job you absolutely hate. Being kind to a stranger. Taking a break when you need one. Looking after your body. Crying when you need to. Putting yourself first. Leaving your comfort zone. Hugging someone you love. Trying out new things. Telling your loved ones how much you care. Taking care of your mental health. Trusting your intuition.
Me: “ChatGPT, my chest hurts. Should I be worried?”
ChatGPT: “Probably just muscle strain. Rest and hydrate.”
Me: “Going to bed then.”
*lies down* (6 hours later)
Me: “ChatGPT, I’m in the ICU. It was a heart attack.”
ChatGPT: “You’re right. Classic presentation. Would you like me to list 10 warning signs you missed?”
This is the current state of ChatGPT’s reliability.
This is a great question, and I am glad someone asked. I recently did something for a big institution, and they promised a small honorarium, but in the end, it seemed they weren't going to pay me; they were shocked by my reaction. I went after them and got paid. They thought it was "too small" for me to worry about. Nah!! Bring the money. I have relatives who depend on me to stay alive.
Every cent and dollar matters. This is the thing nobody will tell you. The richest people are not those who flash what they have; they are those who make money every second. If I don't earn money each day, I get worried because I know my burn rate and what I need to spend.
The easiest way to go broke is to keep spending money without making any money. Yes, I make money from the craziest things. I sold a domain this week that covered my outflows for next month.
Long-term investments in equities and startups shouldn't be sold to survive; they should keep compounding. Also, learn to invest something EVERY SINGLE DAY!! No matter how small. Sam Ovraiti taught me this lesson, and his vulcanizer taught him, too. I have an article on it here - https://t.co/P6HoIdVv1d

This is the same issue I have with Ola of Lagos when he’s advertising cars. When you’re trying to sell something luxurious, the selling point in luxury is not the price, but the idea behind the item, the story, the craftsmanship, the years it took to master the craft, and the history.
Just making a shoe and calling it 25M one-of-one doesn’t make it luxury. Talking about the type of leather used, the type of thread, the sole, the durability, how it’s constructed, the finishing, and the presentation, now that’s what can be considered luxury. And nope, all those still won’t justify a 25M price tag, but it’ll be close.
Another important part is how you market and where you market to. There’s a reason Rolls-Royce and Bugatti do 90% of their marketing at private jet sales events and not on Twitter or billboards.
No one is asking you not to sell luxury, but I’m not sending a DM on WhatsApp to buy a 25M shoe.
