KEY RESOLUTIONS FROM TODAY’S CABINET MEETING AT STATE HOUSE, NAIROBI,

1️⃣ ACCOUNTABILITY & PAYROLL CLEAN-UP

Anti-Fraud Crackdown:

Cabinet approved sweeping reforms to dismantle government payroll fraud after an audit of just 12 out of 53 State Departments revealed KSh 6.2 billion in suspected irregularities.

DCI Action:

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been directed to investigate, recover public funds, and prosecute those responsible.

System Migration:

Mandatory migration of all state entities to the revamped Integrated Human Resource and Payroll System to seal loopholes.

2️⃣ STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE & WATER SECURITY-

Mwache Dam Project:

Authorized KSh 16.6 billion to complete the flagship Mwache Multipurpose Dam in Kwale, set to supply 186,000 cubic metres of water daily to Mombasa and Kwale counties.

Judiciary Modernization:

Approved the KSh 26 billion Judicial Performance Improvement Project Phase II with the World Bank to build a new Supreme Court complex and Court of Appeal.

Northern Kenya Connectivity:

Cleared financing for the Modogashe-Samatar and Rhamu-Mandera roads along the 750km Isiolo-Mandera corridor.

3️⃣ FUTURE-PROOFING ECONOMY & TECHNOLOGY-

AI Leadership:

Established a Standing Cabinet Committee on Artificial Intelligence to steer Kenya’s national AI strategy and position the country as a regional tech leader.

BPO Job Creation:

Adopted the National Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Policy to capture a share of the global BPO market, projected to exceed KSh 68 trillion by 2030.

Cost-Saving Measures:

Froze the leasing and hiring of additional government office space pending a comprehensive utilization audit.

4️⃣ INDUSTRIALIZATION & SOCIAL PROTECTION-

Leather & Textiles:

Endorsed the KSh 5.8 billion Leather Value Chain Development Support Project to unlock up to 120,000 jobs, alongside establishing the Kenya Leather Development Authority and a new Cotton, Textile, and Apparels Policy.

Global Hub Status:

Approved Kenya’s hosting of the Secretariat of the Alliance of African Multilateral Financial Institutions in Nairobi.

Climate Readiness:

Activated a National El Niño Contingency Plan and formed an Ad Hoc Cabinet Committee chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to handle expected heavy rains later this year.
