In 2022, Afghan immigrant Taher Amini raped a woman for rejecting his advances. He then pushed her into a 24-metre-deep mine shaft and threw bricks down on her in an attempt to kill her.

She miraculously survived after spending a full day trapped at the bottom before being rescued by passers-by.

The rapist, known as “the Afghan of the mine shaft,” sentenced to life in prison, is already free on leave.

Despite the clear danger he poses, authorities have granted him the right to leave prison “to get some air”, including visits to restaurants, shopping centres and other public places.
