What happens with A’ja Wilson (@_ajawilson22) is easy to understand. She is the best player in the WNBA (@WNBA )and was never the face of the league because the WNBA had never had one until Caitlin Clark (@CaitlinClark22 ) arrived three years ago. From the very moment she finished her last college game, Caitlin automatically became the only superstar the league has ever had. A’ja lost the league; all she had left was the national team, and she managed to keep Clark off it in 2024, which for many is the worst decision in the history of all sports. But she couldn’t pull it off after that, because in the last two national-team selections there were no excuses not to include Clark. What filled A’ja’s cup was that Clark was named MVP of the last national-team tournament. When she saw that she is now irrelevant on the national team as well, she decided not to go.
