India has opened 11 deep-seated mineral blocks for exploration across the country — marking another decisive step toward securing our critical mineral future.
These blocks are located across Telangana (3), Odisha (2), and one each in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Arunachal Pradesh. The mineral mix reflects our strategic priorities:
- 5 Rare Earth Element (REE) blocks
- 2 Vanadium–Titanium blocks
- 2 Diamond blocks
- 1 Lead–Zinc block
- 1 Zirconium block
This reflects the core spirit of #AtmanirbharBharat, decisive reforms and time-bound action to secure India’s resource future.
Under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, India’s mining sector is undergoing structural transformation, with policy clarity and swift execution ensuring faster resource security for our growth sectors.

Mining terms often sound similar, but their purpose is very different.
Extraction focuses on recovering valuable minerals that power industry and manufacturing, while excavation is about removing soil or rock to enable construction and infrastructure development.
Understanding this difference helps decode how resources are sourced and how infrastructure is built.
India and Ethiopia have elevated their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, marking a significant step forward in cooperation across key sectors, including mining and critical minerals.
The enhanced partnership focuses on strengthening collaboration in mineral resource development, critical mineral value chains, and clean energy, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainable growth, economic diversification, and long-term strategic cooperation.
This engagement underscores the growing importance of international partnerships in securing critical minerals essential for future technologies and energy transitions.
